Thomas Cole (1. februar 1801 – 11. februar 1848) bio je američki likovni umjetnik rodom iz Engleske. Samtra se osnivačem škole rijeke Hudson, američkog umjetničkog pokreta koji je svoj vrhunac imao sredinom 19. vijeka. Taj pokret, kao i Coleovo djelo je bilo pozanto realističkim i detaljnim prikazima američkih pejzaža i divljine, kao i temamam vezamim uz romantizam i naturalizam.[1]
