Pančatantra

Pančatantra (Panchatantra, IAST: Pañcatantra, sanskrit: पञ्चतन्त्र, 'Pet principa') je zbirka indijskih basnih u stihu i prozi. Originalni tekst na sanskritu, za koji neki učenjaci vjeruju da je sastavljen u 3. vijeku pne.,[1] se pripisuje Višnu Šarmi. Međutim, dio učenjaka vjeruje da se temelji na starijoj usmenoj predaji, uključujući "basne stare koliko se može zamisliti".[2] Smatra se "najčešće prevođenim književnim djelom Indije",[3] te su neke od tih priča najpoznatije u svijetu.[4]
