Mark Christopher is een succesvolle scenarioschrijver in Hollywood. Sinds hij een Oscar heeft gewonnen, kampt hij met een schrijversblok. Op kerstavond brengt brigadier Sam Hanlon de jeugddelinquente Susan Landis naar zijn appartement.
