Canon Island (Irish: Oileán na gCanánach)[1] is an island and townland situated in the Shannon Estuary, in County Clare, Ireland. It is about 2.5 km (1.6 mi) east of the village of Kildysart and about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) from the shore on the mainland.

The island is home to the ruins of Canon Island Abbey, an Augustinian monastery built in the late 12th century.[2]
